Aqua mission 4
I just finished an awesome Aqua Mission with my instructor Polly, and I learned some super cool things about diving!
- Where is My Regulator?
The first thing we learned was how to find my regulator. That’s the thing that lets you breathe underwater! It’s really important to know where it is, just in case you ever lose it (don’t worry, it’s super easy to find once you know what to do). I practiced looking for it by feeling around my mouth and making sure I could grab it and take a breath. It was kind of funny, but also really helpful!
- Another Way to Find Your Regulator
Polly taught me another way to find my regulator, and it was awesome! Instead of just feeling around, I learned to look for it and stay calm. If you ever need it, just reach up to your mouth and you’ll find it! You’ll be breathing again in no time!
- Buoyancy Control
Next, we practiced buoyancy control. It’s like being able to float or sink whenever you want to! I used my breath to go up and down in the water. If I took a big breath, I would float up like a balloon! If I let out my air, I would slowly sink down like a rock. It felt like magic, and I couldn’t believe how fun it was to control where I went in the water!
- Fin Pivot
Polly showed me how to do the fin pivot, and it was SO COOL! I had to hold still, then use my fins to help me move. I practiced using my fins like a big swimming propeller, and I could turn around and spin in the water. It was like I was a mermaid spinning through the ocean!
- Hovering
And the last thing we did was hovering! Hovering is like floating in one spot without moving up or down. It’s like being a jellyfish just hanging out in the water. I had to control my breathing and keep my body still, but it felt like I was floating in space! It was one of my favourite parts of the mission.
I had the best time with Polly, and I feel like I’m a real underwater explorer now!
